Photography 101 In-Person Class
Welcome! This photography 101 course will include two classes, each 1.5 hours long. This class is for beginners or veterans who would like to become more comfortable with their camera. You will leave the class able to operate your camera on full manual mode, and UNDERSTAND the features of your camera and how to make intentional artistic choices for the images you make.
Level: Beginner and up, ages 14+
Type of Camera: Digital, Cell Phone (additional apps required), or film (35mm or medium format)
Content: Photography concepts including the exposure triangle, framing a photo, and more. We will not cover photoshop or lightroom in this course.
Other: You must be available to attend both classes. Minimum participants 4, if class does not meet minimum it will be rescheduled. Maximum participants 12.
Location: Southglenn Libarary, 6972 S Vine St, Centennial, CO 80122
Cost: The two class course is $75 per student.

What Equiptment do I need?
Any functional camera! Any digital camera, be it a point-and shoot or a DLSR with a removable lens. We can work with the settings and features of that camera to learn the concepts I will teach. If you have a smart phone, you will need to download a free app called Yamera. If you have a film camera, load it with film (or not, we can make it think it has film in it), to learn how to make it do its thing! At this time I can help with medium format and 35mm film cameras.
What will be taught?
I will cover F-Stop (aperture), shutter speed, and ISO (film speed), and how these three things work together. I will also teach the concepts of how to frame an image, and get all of these ideas to work together to create the shot you want. We will also take suggestions from the class to go more into depth in any area we need. Photoshop programs will not be utilized or taught in this course.
Am I a beginner? Am I advanced?
This class is really for anyone who wants to learn more about their camera. Many cameras today are so intelligent and powerful that they do not ask us what WE think the settings should be before taking the shot, and if they do not turn out, we do not know how to fix the setting to correct the issue. This course it to take anyone from any level away from AUTO mode on their device and into the realm of making some or all of the decisions for camera settings.
